Facundo Pellistri’s transfer from Peñarol to Manchester United is complete, according to AS.

The outlet reports that all the documents were signed just a few minutes ago, and the teenager is joining the Red Devils on a five-year contract. He’s landing in Manchester on Tuesday.

It’s claimed that after months of negotiations, Manchester United ended up triggering the player’s release clause, which was US$10m (£7.71m). The Montevideo side are set to keep 20% of a future transfer.

AS writes that Peñarol will make the move official at 8PM local time tonight (midnight in the UK), but it isn’t clear if Manchester United will do it simultaneously.

The report writes that Real Madrid had been interested in Pellistri, and Manchester City also made a bid back in July. Then it was actually Lyon who got closer to signing the winger, but there was a disagreement in the past few days, and that’s when Manchester United managed to squeeze in for a deal.

Earlier today, Peñarol vice-president Rodolfo Cantino told Sport Witness that he expected the move to be completed in the coming hours, and it seems he was right.
