Manchester United are trying to hijack Liverpool’s deal for the signing of Benfica star Darwin Nunez, according to reports .
Journalist Pedro Sepulveda writes that agent Jorge Mendes is ‘having a meeting with Erik Ten Hag’ in Portugal to talk about the transfer.
He claims Manchester United are currently trying to ‘steal’ the player from Liverpool, who are currently offering €100m for the transfer, plus a five-year contract to the striker.
Darwin Nunez’s wish, however, could be decisive, as it’s once again claimed that the player would like to feature in the Champions League.
When reporting the deal between Liverpool and Benfica this morning, newspaper Record pointed out that Manchester United had been making big efforts to sneak into the agreement and land the striker.
That report from the newspaper said the Red Devils were unsuccesful, but with Ten Hag now meeting Mendes, perhaps there’s still time for it.
