Barcelona may offload Nélson Semedo even though he’s the first choice right-back at Camp Nou.
Sport claims the idea of a transfer pleases the La Liga winners, the Portugal international and his agent, Jorge Mendes.
It’s claimed the Premier League remains to be an attractive market for the 26-year-old and Manchester United get a mention.
The Catalan newspaper states ‘contacts with Manchester United’ and adds the Red Devils are ‘presented as a club that meets the most suitable characteristics to try to close a transfer’.
Mendes’ ‘excellent relations’ with the Old Trafford club is given as the driving fore behind this claim.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace last summer and he’s been the first choice right-back this season.
The report adds it hasn’t stopped the English side considering the possibility of signing Semedo after this season. Sport adds idea to sign the Barca defender is ‘contemplated positively in England’.
It’s stated should Semedo move to Manchester he could be used in a more advanced role as a winger. He can play left-back as well, meaning he’s a versatile option.
However, the English club doesn’t need a right-back, and if they want a left-back or winger then it makes more sense to buy a specialist for either position.
This all feels like Manchester United being dragged in for hype, and all because they’ve worked with Mendes repeatedly.
