Manchester United are today back to getting linked to Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini.
It’s Italian newspaper Tuttosport who features a fresh story on the 19-year-old’s future. Relayed by L’Interista, they highlight Inter Milan’s interest in the player.
The story claims the Nerazzurri are set to have a couple of obstacles in their pursuit, though, and one of them is the ‘strong competition’ from Manchester United.
An advantage the Red Devils could have is the good relationship with Atalanta, built in the negotiations for the transfer of Rasmus Hojlund to Old Trafford this summer.
Now the other difficulty Inter Milan would have to sign Scalvini is the player’s price, with Tuttosport claiming his price tag reaches the €40m.
Even though the story doesn’t say whether Manchester United are willing to pay more than the Nerazzurri, it does sound like that price isn’t something that would scare away the Red Devils.
Erik ten Hag’s side has been struggling with injuries lately, and it’s been a long time since they last used their favourite duo in defence, with the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Johnny Evans constantly getting chances to start. So the signing of a new centre-back wouldn’t be something crazy.
