Manchester United can sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Andre Silva for €30m this summer, lower than previously thought.
That’s according to Sport 1, who say the Portuguese forward has an agreement in place with the Germans to leave for that amount should any clubs come calling.
Silva has been in red-hot form in the Bundesliga this season, with 24 goals in 28 league games, meaning only Robert Lewandowski is ahead of him in the standings.
That form has earned him plenty of interest, and there have been numerous reports about interested clubs, with Manchester United among them.
Indeed, BILD recently stated that United are ‘currently interested’ in Silva, with them likely to need a replacement for Edinson Cavani at the end of the season.
All reports about a potential move have indicated that it will cost at least €40m to sign Silva, but Sport 1 say otherwise.
They don’t name Manchester United as an interested party but do say that clubs from England and Spain ‘have their eyes’ on the 25-year-old.
According to their information, the striker does not have a release clause in his contract, as has been claimed elsewhere, but there is an agreement between him and Frankfurt that he will be allowed to leave the club for a sum of €30m.
That is a fee several of his suitors could likely afford, including Manchester United, even after finances have been hit severely by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Whether they make a move remains to be seen, indeed that is likely to depend heavily on Erling Haaland’s future, but we now know this potential target is available for much cheaper than first thought, at least.
