The Italian media continues to give a big attention to João Mario’s possible departure from Inter in the January transfer market.
Earlier on Monday, we looked at reports in both Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport claiming Manchester United had ‘gone cold’ on the idea of bringing in Joao Mario.
However, Tuttosport go against the grain and evaluate all the options the player has to leave the club, where he is considered to be a flop for not living up to the investment made in 2016.
Inter paid €40m plus bonuses to take the midfielder from Sporting, but now know that it will be hard to recover that money due to his poor performances for the club.
Tuttosport claims that Manchester United, PSG and Valencia are all possible destinations for him, although the business model is still unknown.
To pay the price demanded by Inter, Manchester United are considered the most likely club. That’s because both Valencia and PSG must make profit before the end of the season due to the FFP, so the Red Devils would have better conditions in this case.
But a loan swap is also a possibilty. Inter have interested in Javier Pastore from PSG, and José Mourinho could make both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata available in those conditions. Manchester United would just have to renew the Spaniard’s contract before sending him, since his current deal expires next summer.
But Tuttosport doesn’t say if there would be a buying option for either clubs at the end of the season. It actually sounds like they are just speculating possibilities for now, because even though the article takes an entire page, there’s not a lot of new info on it.
