This week, when the Portuguese media reported that Manchester United had scouts at the Estádio do Dragão to watch Porto’s game against Santa Clara, we soon brought a story pointing out the Red Devils’ officials may have been impressed by Fabio Vieira’s performance.

The midfielder was unanimously the man of the match, having scored two goals in the 3-0 win, and clearly put a great exhibition for those in the stands on Monday evening.

Now as his form is the subject of a story from newspaper Record today, it’s backed up that Manchester United probably took positive notes from the 21-year-old.

Referring to the Reds’ visit to Porto, it’s claimed that the scouts ‘saw very interesting things’ and are now one of the clubs who are ‘attentive’ to him.

Record just doesn’t seem to have a big idea on what would be Porto’s stance in case of a potential sale in the summer. All they do is point out that he recently signed a new contract with the Dragons, now protected until 2025 with a release clause worth €50m.

So even though Vieira is valued by Transfermarkt at only €17m, it’s unlikely that the Dragons would accept something close to that. Firstly, because of his young age, and with the team now getting close to winning the Portuguese league, the price for their players is certainly going up.

As always, it’s worth pointing out that Vieira is a Jorge Mendes client.
