Ajax are on the verge of signing Daley Blind, reports De Telegraaf on Thursday.

The Dutch club have been trying to get their former player back for a while, and it hasn’t been a secret transfer chase.

Ajax have been open with their aims for Blind and it’s just been the financial side of a deal holding things up, with the versatile player not being in Jose Mourinho’s core plans.

Manchester United initially asked for €17m but that was way too high for Ajax, report De Telegraaf, with Blind only having a year left on his contract.

It’s claimed that Edwin van der Sar has been leading negotiations and whilst a new figure isn’t mentioned, the insinuation is that a deal will now be done for much less.

Ajax want to sign Blind within the next 48 hours because they don’t want him going on tour with United.

The Premier League club depart for the US on Monday, and if Blind goes it’s thought a transfer would be further delayed.

There’s just a ‘few obstacles’ left to complete the move, and De Telegraaf sound very confident on behalf of Ajax.
