On Friday morning, there were a couple of reports from South America claiming Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has an agreement to join Barcelona.
That news was brought by the Argentine media, who said the 34-year-old turned down an offer from Boca Juniors as he chose to move to the Camp Nou instead.
However, the Xeneize aren’t the only South American side trying to sign Cavani. In the past few days, there have been many rumours about Corinthians, who are said to be in touch with his entourage.
And according to Globo Esporte, the Brazilian club have now received an answer from the player. The Timão were told that he’s not defining his future until January, and as a result of that, the talks should stop for the coming days.
Journalist André Hernan points out that the feeling among Corinthians’ board is that Cavani is rescinding his contract with Manchester United next month, and only then he’ll choose where to play.
If that’s the case, then the Brazilian club will show him an offer and their project. But for now, the talks have stalled, even though the Argentines believe he’s on his way to Barça already.
