Daley Blind appeared on a pitch for Manchester United once in May and once in April, and before that his previous appearance was in January.

With a grand total of 361 Premier League minutes over the campaign, it’s very clear Blind wasn’t one of Jose Mourinho’s core players.

There was an injury to contend with, but Blind will know he’d be kidding himself to put that forward as a major reason for his lack of minutes.

Now back in the Netherlands and training with the Dutch national team, Blind has been asked about his Manchester United future, and it’s clear there’s a transfer chance this summer.

De Telegraaf quote the versatile footballer as saying: “We’re going to think about it in the holidays… United is also a nice big club. Of course there is a lot of competition there. I am still under contract for another year.

“I certainly will not make a panic transfer, because it is not guaranteed that I will play at a new club. We have to wait, but it seems logical that I wasn’t satisfied with the second half of the season. So first I’ll go on vacation and then put all the possibilities next to each other.”

A return to Ajax has been suggested, but that hasn’t picked up much speed in the Netherlands yet, and Blind will need to know the opportunities open to him before he can really assess the options.

Whilst the 28 year old may not be up to Mourinho’s standard at Old Trafford, he’s certainly a good squad option for many clubs. That may be the worry for Blind, he won’t want to drop down a level and then end up on the bench anyway, his versatility perhaps working against him.
