With Manchester United fullback Diogo Dalot scoring a brace against Czech Republic at the weekend, the Portuguese press now highlights the great form the player has been in.
When publishing the squad’s ratings on Sunday, newspaper A Bola had already selected the 23-year-old as the man of the match, giving him a nine, not only for his two goals, but also for the good balance between attack and defence he had for the whole 90 minutes.
The same outlet now features another story about Dalot, first pointing out that if you’d ask someone to guess which Manchester United star scored two goals for Portugal at the weekend, the ‘obvious’ answer would be Cristiano Ronaldo and the ‘most logical’ would be Bruno Fernandes.
The player has eight appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side this season, and gave Aaron Wan-Bissaka little chance of competing with him for a starting place in the team since the new manager’s arrival.
Now despite this great form, the Portuguese player still hasn’t secured his spot with the national team, as now that João Cancelo returned from suspension, he should be back in the starting XI.
So that’s one more reason for Dalot to continue working to improve.
