Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira was chosen to give a press conference at the Brazilian national team camp on Monday night.
Most of the questions were about the player’s debut for Brazil, as this is the first time he will be playing for the country since his appearances for the U-23 squad.
“I think I can play as the first midfielder, second or number 10. I will give my best and I am very happy. I want to win this position,” said Andreas (via Globo Esporte).
Regarding his choice to play for Brazil instead of Belgium and the World Cup clash between the two, he said: “I always had in my head that I wanted to defend Brazil. It was painful to see the game, I was injured, being treated in Belgium, and it was hard to see the game there. But we have to raise our heads, look ahead and work hard.”
“So, it’s like he said, the feature of the Premier League is that they are very fast, very strong. And also as he said, he adapted very quickly because he is a great player, very fast, very intelligent, and knows how to score. And they like that a lot. And for me as a midfielder, I have to adapt now, so playing at Manchester the first games were good for me, and now I just want to keep that level.”
The press conference also had to have a question about José Mourinho. But Andreas was quick on dismissing any controversies and said that the atmosphere is absolutely fine at Manchester United.
“No, there are a lot of things out the press saying that things are not going well. But we in the dressing room at Manchester United are all calm, everything is good. The group is a great group, and we’re always focused.”
