When Ralf Rangnick confirmed to the media that Anthony Martial wanted to leave Manchester United sooner rather than later, it came as no surprise.
The Frenchman has barely been used this season, either by the German or his predecessor, and his agent made it clear that a new club was needed to avoid his client from stagnating.
It didn’t take long for Sevilla to be mentioned as a potential destination, and while their first bid was reportedly turned down, they aren’t giving up just yet.
That’s because L’Equipe back up the Sevilla interest, explaining that Martial ‘is expected to finish the season on loan at Sevilla’, as he has become the La Liga club’s ‘priority’.
They do mention the first offer being refused, but then add that ‘the positions could quickly get closer’, suggesting an agreement could be right around the corner.
As for Marseille’s reported interest in the player, it’s described as a ‘pipe dream’, since his wage demands are far too high for the Ligue 1 side.
