Here’s the Argentine media bringing a few more updates on the situation of Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo.
It’s now ESPN who joined other outlets claiming he’s in talks to move to Boca Juniors, and this time they say there’s already an ‘agreement in principle’ between club and player.
Journalist Augusto César is the one claiming Rojo said yes to a two-year contract, with an option for a further one.
However, his report also makes it clear that Boca Juniors don’t want to spend a penny on the transfer. That means Rojo must sort out his situation at Manchester United.
The defender’s contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of the season, so for him to make the move in January, he’d need to rescind the deal. Otherwise, Boca Juniors would be waiting for him in the summer, but they’re aware that other clubs could join the competition.
Marcos Rojo wasn’t used by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, and since his departure as a free agent in the summer seems certain, perhaps letting him go now would make sense for the club to save spending on his salary.
