There is no denying that once Edinson Cavani leaves Manchester United, the club are going to need a new striker.
That’s expected to take place this summer, since the Uruguayan’s contract is up then, and with Anthony Martial not exactly shining in Spain, his prospects of reintegrating the Old Trafford squad aren’t great.
That means a lot placed on an ageing Cristiano Ronaldo’s shoulders, which is why Manchester United will likely spend money on a new goalscorer.
One of the more consistent players throughout the current season has been that of Tammy Abraham, who joined AS Roma from Chelsea in the summer, and has thrived under José Mourinho.
The England international has scored 23 goals in 40 appearances for the Serie A side, as well as picking up four assists, with the last time he found the back of the net being a brace in the Rome derby against Lazio.
That only reinforced his spot in the hearts of the Italian club’s fanbase, and also why AS Roma have little desire of selling him.
The news of the interest comes from Il Messaggero, relayed by Siamo La Roma, who claim the striker ‘is attracting the attention of many big clubs’, with Manchester United ‘particularly interested’ in the player.
The Premier League side ‘continue to monitor him for the possible replacement of Cristiano Ronaldo’, but the Italians ‘do not seem to have any intention of depriving themselves’ of their star in the upcoming transfer window.
