Things may get a bit complicated for Manchester United to sign the Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva next summer.

Although the Red Devils reportedly have a first-option advantage over the player, the competition for him could still be concerning.

According to Le 10 Sport today, Real Madrid have set him up as a replacement for James Rodriguez after the end of the season.

That could mean a big rise in the player’s price, since the Spanish side would create an auction with Manchester United for the signing. That’s probably the ideal scenario Monaco are planning for, hence this coming out in the French media.

The bad news for José Mourinho is that Silva would prefer to join Real Madrid. And as the first-option thing wasn’t very well explained by the French press, we’d have to see how things would go in case the player says no to Manchester United should they make an approach.

Manchester City are also mentioned in the latest Le10 article, and their participation in this battle would only help the figures to go sky high. As claimed by Le 10, Monaco would start to listen to offers of at least €50m.
