Manchester United are ‘one step away’ from sealing the long awaited transfer of Matteo Darmian.
For several transfer windows the Italian fullback has reportedly been on the verge of leaving Old Trafford, with the Premier league club content to complete the deal as long as they were offered a reasonable amount.
Around half of Serie A have been reportedly interested at various different points, with Juventus one of the clubs most linked with the player.
It’s the Turin club who are reaching an agreement, say TMW, and it’s claimed there’s ‘agreement with Manchester United’ on a loan with a purchase option.
With this being Darmian, it’s of course not straightforward, and Calciomercato also say a transfer is close, with the footballer moving on a €3m loan with a €8m purchase option.
However, before the move can be completed, it’s explained United need to extend Darmian’s contract by a further season, so that the loan makes sense for them.
The defender’s contract expires in June, but there’s an option to extend it by a year… so if it’s just that which needs activating then it’s not a big deal.
Another step is said to be Bologna taking up their option to sign Riccardo Orsolini, who they have on loan, on a permanent move from Juve.
That would then enable Leonardo Spinazzola to join Bologna on loan, meaning the loan quota from a club wasn’t broken.
See… nothing was ever going to be simple.
