With Manchester United struggling to sign some of their top targets in the summer window, it seems the Red Devils have been moving for alternatives to get a couple of extra transfers done before the end of the market.
Spanish outlet Marca today comes up with a surprising story, claiming Erik ten Hag’s side are now considering signing Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
The outlet points out that Manchester United have been linked to several players from La Liga lately, with the likes of Alvaro Morata, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raul de Tomas and Matheus Cunha all being linked by the English media.
With the difficulty in bringing Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford, the Premier League giants now ‘think’ of signing Casemiro.
On Real Madrid’s stance, Marca writes that the club ‘count on the Brazilian’ and ‘have not received any offer’. Despite pointing out he’s an important player for Carlo Ancelotti, they still claim ‘nobody can escape the market moves’, making it look like a sale would be possible.
Marca state: ‘While United have priority in the centre-forward position, they are not ruling out more signings and Casemiro’s name is beginning to sound strongly. There is no news from Valdebebas, but there are still two weeks to go and the market always holds surprises in the final days.’
For now, the outlet doesn’t mention how much Manchester United would like to pay, or how much Real Madrid would request for the transfer.
