First Saul was said to be on the verge of signing for Manchester City, something Sport Witness was informed wasn’t the case, and then – oh, no – it wasn’t City who wanted the Atletico Madrid player, but rather their neighbours Manchester United.

City actually want Rodrigo, according to claims originating from Spanish radio earlier this week. And then it was quickly reported that Manchester United do too.

Of course.

Thursday’s edition of Marca brings it all together and says City, United, Bayern Munich and PSG are all willing to part with €70m to sign the midfielder.

That’s his buyout clause, and it’s unlikely he’s going for less.

Pep Guardiola is said to be behind interest from Manchester City, as the club look to find a long term replacement for Fernandinho.

As for Manchester United, Marca believe it’s apparent that Nemanja Matic can’t regularly do it at the top level for much longer. Therefore, the club ‘need a metronome’, someone to manage their play from midfield.

Over the past week, the Old Trafford club has been linked with Saul, Rodrigo and Thomas Partey.

All they now need is Koke and they’ve got a an Aletico midfield full-house, perhaps there’ll be some kind of prize when that happens.
