Paul Pogba, at least in the English press, cannot seem to avoid criticism in some shape or form.
However, in his home country, there’s a lot more praise going around, and for good reason after this summer’s achievements with the France national team.
The Manchester United midfielder played a key role in helping Didier Deschamps’ squad lift the World Cup in Russia, and now people can enjoy a behind the scenes look at the achievement thanks to a TF1 documentary.
Following the team around during the tournament, Emmanuel Le Ber and Théo Schuster got to know the players rather well, and saw a lot of them evolve as the days went by, notably Paul Pogba.
According to Le Ber, who was speaking to Le Point: “His evolution is very interesting. He likes to put himself forward, but shows tremendous respect towards the older members of the group and the past generations. At the beginning, he just observed, and then progressively started doing small speeches at half-time.
“The one against Argentina where he vehemently spoke to the team was the turning point in his change of status within the group. He freed himself, and became one of the bosses.”
Whether you like him or not for what he does off the pitch, there’s no denying the talent he displays on it, even if Manchester United fans would like to see it more often, or should we say more consistently.
With speculation surrounding his Old Trafford future towards the end of the transfer window, Pogba recently refused to rule out a potential exit next summer in an interview with German media.
