Manchester United and Manchester City are following SM Caen midfielder Jean-Victor Makengo, according to claims in the Italian media. Since making his debut for Caen the 18-year-old has caught the attention of major clubs across Europe.

Il Messaggero have revealed the two Manchester clubs have already sent officials to get a lowdown on the young central midfielder after he impressing for the French U17 side.

Makengo’s contract with Caen expires in June 2018, which has led to other clubs showing an interest in the youngster, and along with the two Premier League sides AS Roma and Juventus have also sent scouts to watch the player. Makengo has been described as an all-round midfielder with attacking instincts.

Makengo came through the Caen system, and is highly rated in France. Last season was Makengo’s breakthrough after being involved regularly in the first team squad in the second half of the campaign. In total the midfielder made 5 starts for the French club, and often came on as a substitute.
