Manchester United have approached Napoli star Fabián Ruiz’s entourage, according to claims coming out of Italy today.
The midfielder has entered his final year of contract and has so far refused to sign a new deal with the Serie A side.
After the 26-year-old rejected West Ham United’s approach, another English club, Manchester United have joined the mix.
Italian journalist and Napoli expert, Ciro Venerato, told CalcioNapoli24: “Manchester United made an attempt with Fabian’s entourage.”
Venerato explains the Old Trafford club haven’t yet made any approach to Luciano Spalleti’s side.
With the renewal not in sight despite Napoli being willing to insert a low release clause in the new deal, the Italian club suspect the player wants to leave them as a free agent in 2023 and that there is already a club behind him.
This possibility, as per the journalist, has annoyed Napoli, and the ex-Real Betis man could risk sitting in the stands next season.
It is not the first time Venerato has discussed Manchester United keeping tabs on Fabián. Three days ago, he told the same website the Spaniard’s entourage has ‘received some phone calls’ from Erik ten Hag’s side.
