Manchester United are making efforts to sign young players for their youth system, with reports coming from France and Spain in recent days which detail that.

On January 31st it was reported in France that the Premier League club had made an offer to sign Hannibal Mejbri from AS Monaco.

The 16 year old was keen to leave and it was explained, by RMC, that talks had been going on for ‘several days’.

Monaco said no, which didn’t go down very well with the player’s family.

Speaking to Le Parisien on deadline day, the player’s father Lofti Mejbri explained the situation, claiming ‘serious things’ went on behind the scenes, which were ‘very difficult to live through’ for Hannibal and the rest of his family.

Despite the refusal, a transfer in the near future is still a priority for the midfielder, with his father adding: “Our latest talks with the club didn’t reassure us. It’s a problem between them and us. It isn’t a question of money nor is it because there’s other offers. I’m not the one who approached other clubs for Hannibal.

“He’s been courted by big European clubs for ages. The destination isn’t important. Our decision is taken, we want to leave Monaco, that’s it. It was all going well for Hannibal with the U17s, but now he’s really affected by all this. I hope Monaco will let him leave. It’s best for all involved. If it isn’t now, then in the summer.”

On Sunday, L’Equipe reported the player remains ‘determined’ to leave his club, and had been left ‘traumatised’ by Monaco’s treatment.

It’s not just Mejbri who has been the subject of a recent Manchester United offer.

Spanish newspaper AS report the Red Devils are one of a number of clubs to make offers for, or to, David de la Víbora.

The Real Madrid player is 16 years of age and operates mainly at left back. United’s effort hasn’t been unsuccessful, with him now signing a first professional contract, which means the club would now have to pay a fee to sign him.

This all adds to young Amiens attacker Noam Emeran, who is thought to have agreed a move to Old Trafford.

He’s also only 16 years of age, and told the French media in mid January that a move to Manchester United ‘feels like the best choice’.

Emeran tries to model his game on Anthony Martial, Neymar and Leroy Sané.

And then there’s Adrián Corral who, just like the others, is just 16. On January 7th, Super Deporte said ‘everything points to’ the Villarreal youngster signing for the English club, but there’s been no update since.
