Starting all four of Austria’s games at the Euros, Christoph Baumgartner put himself in the best light on the international stage.
Scoring a goal along the way in the 1-0 win over Ukraine in the group stages, the 21-year-old attracted the interest of both Liverpool and Manchester United.
At least, that’s what the rumours spreading have been saying, but the TSG Hoffenheim starlet isn’t going anywhere this summer.
According to Kicker, who talk about both Liverpool and Manchester United being interested in the attacking midfielder, his ‘career plan is to stay for at least one more season’ at his current club.
For Hoffenheim to let him go, they would need an ‘unexpected mega-offer’, thus forcing both club and player ‘to think about’.
There’s no mention of what fee would fall into that category, but it’s clearly hinted both the Reds and the Red Devils would need to dig deep in their pockets to get something done.
Whether Jürgen Klopp or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are that desperate for the Austrian, however, remains to be seen.
