You may have noticed an increase in Manchester United articles over the past couple of days focusing on Federico Chiesa.
That’s because newspapers such as Gazzetta dello Sport, La Nazione and Corriere Fiorentino have been pushing the idea the winger could head to England for the right price, and the Premier League side are interested.
The first thing that springs to mind when reading all of them is the 22-year-old is likely a backup option on the list of recruits for the role behind Jadon Sancho, and yet Tuttosport don’t believe that’s the case.
For them, it’s all about Federico Bernardeschi, currently at Juventus.
They report Manchester United are looking at the player as an ‘alternative to Sancho’, and explain Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. are ‘knocking’ on the door for the Italy international.
However, ‘for now, there is no response from Juventus’, mostly because Bernardeschi isn’t currently for sale.
That being said, he isn’t untouchable, and with the right cash up front offer, ‘especially if it surpasses €35m’, the Serie A champions would have to take it into ‘serious consideration’.
No serious steps have been taken and the whole thing is described as ‘not particularly hot’ for now, but it’s one worth keeping an eye on alongside the Chiesa rumours, as, at that price, Bernardeschi represents an even cheaper option.
