Just like Nabil Fékir was last summer, Tanguy Ndombélé is expected to be one of the big stories of the upcoming 2019 summer transfer window, and Lyon are already bracing themselves for the offers coming their way.
While none have reached them so far, the list of clubs interested in the France international grows almost daily, with two Serie A sides, Juventus and Inter, said to be in the lead to acquire the midfielder’s services.
However, just behind them, according to Le10 Sport, are Manchester United and Manchester City.
The latter of the two already gave convincing Jean-Michel Aulas a go last summer with a €50m offer, to no avail, but, in similar fashion to the Red Devils, they have kept in touch with the player’s entourage throughout the course of the current campaign.
Manchester United’s need for a new midfielder, even more so after losing their midfield talisman* Marouane Fellaini, is well documented and Ndombélé’s box to box abilities would certainly come in handy at Old Trafford should they decide Fred isn’t good enough, which appears to currently be the case.
Aulas is said to be expecting at least €80m in the summer for the 22-year-old, who renewed his contract last September, technically keeping him at the club until 2023.
As Le10 put it, even if he doesn’t get that, he’ll certainly get more than the €50m he turned down last year.
