The future of Keita Balde Diao is very much up for question. Having moved from Barcelona to Italian football in 2010, with Cornella, the young Spaniard soon jumped up to Lazio.
Despite being born in Spain, Keita didn’t have Spanish citizenship and had to wait for that to be sorted before he was able to play. Always attracting attention because of his Barcelona past, the now 21 year old has shown enough flashes with Lazio to confirm he’s an excellent talent.
A Twitter account claiming to belong to the footballer, sent out a message this week saying he’d basically reached the end of his patience with Lazio, and wasn’t returning on time for pre-season training, in agreement with the club.
Keita has apparently had enough of the way things are run at Lazio, and inevitably transfer rumours have surfaced.
Spanish newspaper AS pick up the story from Italy and go with an Atletico Madrid slant. They also say Manchester United have been interested, but nobody has yet made an offer.
Manchester United have their own group of talented young attackers, so unless one or more leave then a move for the Lazio player surely looks unlikely. A nursery of young attacking talent and the pressure to grow them doesn’t sound to be the Jose Mourinho way.
