So far, a select few Premier League clubs have been linked with Manuel Locatelli, whom many will have discovered for the first time as they watch Italy dominate their group at the Euros.

The midfielder was the star of the show as Roberto Mancini’s men dismantled Switzerland on Wednesday, scoring two goals, which included a stunning long range shot.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal are the names we’ve seen so far, but Manchester United can now be added to this group, as Gazzetta dello Sport reckon they’ve joined the race to get the Sassuolo star.

Predicted to end up at Juventus, there is still a chance he could choose a move abroad, with his current club now expecting a fee of around €60m for his services after his exploits in an Italy shirt.

It’s said that intermediaries have ‘pointed at interest’ from Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and even Tottenham, where Fabio Paratici is a big fan.

Regarding the Red Devils, it’s no secret they could do with another midfielder, especially one with Locatelli’s skillset, and there’s no denying that the 23-year-old has the ability to succeed in the Premier League.

While signing someone off the back of a good international tournament isn’t always the best idea, it’s worth remembering he’s done it in Serie A too, scoring four goals and assisting another three in 34 league games.

One to keep an eye on, just to see if more comes of it, as Manchester United joining any race can produce some surprising results.
