It appears that Manchester United are still in for Kingsley Coman.
That’s according to Christian Falk, a journalist for SportBild, who took to his show for the newspaper on Friday to discuss the situation.
Stating that it reminded him a bit to the David Alaba case, Falk explained that Coman is currently earning around €12m a year at Bayern Munich pre-tax, but ‘he would obviously like to have it net’, meaning post-tax.
That would mean a salary increase, and that’s where Manchester United come in.
According to Falk, the Red Devils ‘would have already indicated that he could earn it there’, meaning they have told him they can give him the wages he wants.
Despite these promises, Bayern Munich aren’t exactly in a rush to get anything done because ‘they don’t have to make a decision yet’.
Coman is contracted in Bavaria until 2023, meaning he still has two years left on his deal with the Bundesliga champions.
As for Manchester United, even if they want to offer the Frenchman the wages he wants, they would still have to negotiate a fee with Bayern, and that probably wouldn’t be cheap.
