Thiago Almada has emerged as a target for Manchester United, if reports are to be believed.

The 19-year-old currently represents Argentine side Vélez Sarsfield and since making his first team debut in 2018, he has nine goals and four assists.

TuttoMercatoWeb brings an update about the Red Devils and their headline reads, ‘Manchester United, contacts have started for Almada…’

It’s not clear if the contacts have taken place between the Red Devils and the teenager or between the two clubs.

The playmaker’s contract with the South American side runs down in 2023 and he has a €25m release clause.

TMW states Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are trying to find an agreement for €18m with Vélez Sarsfield and United’s effort to sign Almada is in progress.

On May 5th, AS reported Manchester City interest in the Argentine and stated Pep Guardiola’s side have been following him closely for several months.

It was also explained the the Premier League winners are the ‘most dangerous’ club in the race to sign him, ahead of Atlético Madrid. The youngster has admitted he has “always liked” the Etihad club.

This could help City, if they were to battle it out with Manchester United for Almada’s signature.
