Two days ago, De Telegraaf reported Manchester United ‘want’ to sign both Antony and Cody Gakpo before the transfer window closes.

The same newspaper today provides a fresh update on the PSV Eindhoven star’s future.

According to De Telegraaf, the Champions League qualifying clash against Rangers today could be the winger’s last tie for the Dutch side because Manchester United have ‘serious plans’ for him.

The first leg at Ibrox ended in a 2-2 draw and the Netherlands international impressed for his side in that tie.

It is expected Manchester United will ‘concretise the interest’ in the 23-year-old after PSV’s clash against Rangers. The report further adds that it is now clear the player is interested in working under the orders of Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

The Dutch club’s goal in this window has been to keep Gakpo and Ibrahim Sangaré. The midfielder signed a new contract, while the attacker has kept his options open.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side hope to qualify for the Champions League group stages and convince the player to stay for one more season. The first part will only be possible if they overcome Rangers today.

PSV’s desire is to challenge for the title this season with Gakpo in their team. At the same time, they also realise his ‘departure cannot be prevented’ if they were to receive the ‘right’ offer. According to De Telegraaf, a fee of €50m or above is needed.

It now remains to be seen whether Manchester United will offer €50m or a fee close to that figure to take Gakpo away from PSV.
