Rarely fighting on the same fronts on the transfer market due to budgetary reasons, Manchester United and Everton have found themselves brought into a very busy affair.
The situation revolves around Joël Ngoya, currently contracted to Lille in France, but not for much longer.
Still on a youth deal, the midfielder was expecting a first professional contract offer from his club before the deadline of April 30th, but it never arrived.
A bit hurt by that, Ngoya has now decided to look elsewhere to continue his promising career, and France Football report on Monday a number of clubs, including Manchester United and Everton, have been contacted.
The French newspaper state the Old Trafford and Goodison Park residents have been ‘sounded out’ (we’re guessing by the player’s entourage) and ‘seem willing to look closer’ at the 18-year-old.
However, if they do and like what they see, they’ll have to fight off the likes of Arsenal, Hoffenheim, Nice, Bordeaux, Rennes, Lyon, Atlético Madrid and Valencia, just to name a few.
And that’s not mentioning Marseille, who ‘should formulate an offer in the coming days’.
So if United and Everton do want Ngoya, they’ll have to act relatively swiftly.
