Victor Lindelof will have known he’d be in Sweden’s World Cup squad this summer, but that didn’t stop the Manchester United defender from planning his wedding for this week.
Sweden’s Expressen report that Lindelof will be leaving the national squad’s training camp on Thursday and won’t return until after the weekend. Not only that, he’s taking John Guidetti with him.
Guidetti, who is owned by Celta Vigo but has been on loan at Alaves, is good friends with Lindelof and will be best-man at the wedding.
There’s absolutely no problem with the mini-break, and the Manchester United player asked for permission well in advance.
Expressen quote national team manager Janne Andersson as saying: “From Monday they are back in. That’s why we added a few extra days this week.”
It’s explained Lindelof met his soon-to-be wife at a music festival before they started talking on social media, and things went from there. The defender has had an up and down first season at Manchester United and will be hoping for better in the next campaign.
