Jose Mourinho is set to make defensive reinforcements in January, according to claims in Portugal.
O Jogo state Manchester United have initiated contacts to sign Benfica’s Victor Lindelof.
The Premier League giants have been linked with a move for the Swedish defender several times in the past, but it now appears the interest might be genuine from the Old Trafford side. Well, at least if O Jogo are to be believed.
O Jogo say Manchester United believe they’re in a position to complete the deal for Lindelof when the transfer window reopens in January, and want to avoid competition after failing to sign Renato Sanches in the summer.
It’s been reported Lindelof is a top priority signing for Jose Mourinho in January, and Manchester United have already taken steps to make it happen. The 22-year-old is highly rated in Portugal, and has been linked to several top European clubs, so it’d be interesting to see if Manchester United can wrap up a deal soon.
Earlier, there have been reports claiming Lindelof is negotiating a new contract at Benfica. He has a release clause of €30m in his current contract.
