Kick starting their Premier League campaign once more with a 1-1 draw away to Tottenham, Manchester United showed all the hard work leading up to the game wasn’t in vain.

The team looked relatively comfortable on the ball and were it not for a couple of mistakes from Harry Maguire and David De Gea for Steven Bergwijn’s goal, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team could have walked away with all three points.

If rumours over the past few months are to be believed, then the centre of defence remains an area the United manager wants to improve, with Kalidou Koulibaly near the top of his list.

Multiple rumours of interest have been circulating, which have been pushed again on Monday by Gazzetta dello Sport, as they look at what the future could hold for the Senegalese defender.

The Italian newspaper state that Napoli value their star at €100m, ‘not a penny less’, and he ‘will only be sold if faced with an indecent request’.

They then add the club have only received ‘one request’ for Koulibaly, which has come from Manchester United, although the Premier League side ‘assess the defender at no more than €80m’.

That means that’s as far as the Red Devils would be willing to go if they were to make a bid, which wouldn’t be sufficient to convince Aurelio de Laurentiis.

They have come knocking, however, so the interest seems to be there, but we seem some way off an agreement when it comes to the price.

There’s still plenty of time left, though…
