As has been reported a bit everywhere, Arsenal are said to want Anthony Martial as part of the deal taking Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford, and RMC Sport in France have Manchester United’s answer.
The Red Devils have allegedly overtaken their city rivals in the race to sign the Chilean from the Emirates, and while they wouldn’t mind seeing Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way, letting their French starlet go is out of the question.
Via Mohamed Bouhafsi, the French outlet report the Manchester United board have ‘categorically refused’ the option of seeing Anthony Martial be included in a swap deal for Sanchez, with José Mourinho also against seeing his forward leave.
However. that doesn’t mean negotiations have broken down between the two clubs, with RMC Sport making it clear discussions are still taking place to get a deal over the line.
Earlier on Monday, we relayed a story from Chile claiming that Mkhitaryan wasn’t exactly thrilled at the prospect of moving to Arsenal, which could be the reason why the Gunners tried to make a move for Martial.
Well, that and the fact the France international is in form and has a huge amount of potential left to develop.
