From the moment that Philippe Lamboley, Anthony Martial’s agent, came out and said his client needed to leave Manchester United, rumours of a January move have been rife.

The striker, once lauded as the next best thing at Old Trafford, has found life difficult of late, struggling for both game time and goals.

With a desire to represent his country in 2022 World Cup, a move in January will be needed, which is where Juventus come in.

Gazzetta dello Sport make it clear that Manchester United have ‘broken up’ with Martial, and the Frenchman’s plan is clear: ‘away, away immediately, on loan or outright’.

Juventus, with a few financial issues brewing, ‘the first is better’, meaning a temporary deal for the forward would work ‘because United, for a sale, is still asking for very important figures’.

That’s understandable, since Martial still has a contract at Old Trafford until 2024 with an option for a further year, and so a loan would suit everyone best.

Something to keep an eye on, but much like Thierry Henry, the player many compared him to in the past, the former Monaco starlet could end up having a spell in Turin.
