Le10 Sport on Thursday have a great example of 2+2=5 in their print edition, and it involves Manchester United.

Actually it’s more of a 2+2+2+2=9 situation, but that’s not the expression and it’s nowhere near as catchy.

The French magazine take the liberty of dreaming up a world where Manchester United become Monaco’s unofficial parent club because of José Mourinho and Jorge Mendes.

The idea would be for the Ligue 1 side to unearth some hidden gems all around the world, buy them, develop them and then sell them for big bucks to the Premier League club.

Apparently, the fact that Manchester United have already bought Anthony Martial (so one player) from them suggests this has already started.

Of course, the reported interest in Fabinho isn’t helping either, but Le10 reckon the Special One could also be keeping an eye on Tiémoué Bakayoko for his future shopping list, as well as new signing Djibril Sidibé because they need a right-back.

Furthermore, José Mourinho is good friends with Monaco’s owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, who once dreamed of having the United manager at his club, and that also helps.

We don’t buy it.
