With June 30th fast approaching, clubs are scrambling around to get loan extensions for some of their players.
Inter are one of those, as they would like to keep Alexis Sánchez around for the remainder of the campaign, which has been extended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, they are facing some resistance from Manchester United, and time is running out.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday explain that while the Premier League club have no problem with Sánchez remaining in Italy until Serie A is completed, ‘they are going sideways’ when it comes to negotiating about the Europa League.
The Italian newspaper say ‘this isn’t really surprising’, and it isn’t, since both teams are still in the Europa League, and with the pair aiming to win the trophy, United ‘do not want to give advantages to their opponent’.
The last thing the Red Devils would want is to face Inter in the final and Sánchez score the winner, so it’s ‘logical’ for there to be some ‘arm wrestling’ between the two clubs.
The problem for the Italians is that if they can’t find an agreement for the Chile international, Conte would then only have a young Sebastiano Esposito behind Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martínez, meaning ‘an agreement is urgently needed’.
