With already 10 goals and four assists in 29 appearances for Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras at the age of 18, it’s hard for people to not get excited about Gabriel Veron.
The young forward, who can play either down the right, down the left or through the middle, has slowly but surely emerged as the next big thing to come out of the Série A club in Brazil, and there’s a few European sides interested.
Among those are Manchester United, as is revealed by La Nazione in a big article about the youngster, described as ‘the South American talent with the biggest prospect of landing in Europe’.
Contracted to Palmeiras until 2025, the 18-year-old is followed by the Red Devils, Arsenal and Juventus, while some sources in Brazil suggest Fiorentina are also on the case, hence why the newspaper are covering it.
However, getting Veron would come at a cost, as opening talks with the Brazilian club would require around €25m, with then extra money needed for the player’s contract.
That’s why Fiorentina will probably turn their attention to another target, Krzysztof Piatek, as he would cost around €18m all included.
That would be one fewer rival for Manchester United to deal with, albeit the weakest of the three, but we’ll have to wait and see if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. go fishing in Brazil once again in the near future, but at that price, it’s certainly doable.
