There are rumours that, regardless of the situation the player is in, will never go away, and André Gomes to Manchester United appears to be becoming one.

Throughout last summer, before the midfielder eventually signed for Barcelona, rumour after rumour appeared day after day in the Spanish press that José Mourinho wanted to bring the Portuguese midfielder to Old Trafford.

A year later, and the same story is being brought up again.

AS on Friday are the ones with the story, and say that the 23-year-old’s future depends entirely on whether or not he meets Ernesto Valverde’s high expectations.

If he doesn’t, the Spanish newspaper claim Manchester United and Juventus are both very attentive to the situation, with the Red Devils described as ‘always willing to bet on him’.

AS then reminisce about all the ‘more than interesting’ offers André Gomes turned down to go to Barcelona, a club he doesn’t particularly want to leave this summer.

Whether or not he does depends entirely on him.
