As rumours about Paul Pogba’s future continue to swirl, ideas for replacements are thrown around the European transfer rumour mill like confetti at a wedding.
One of the names that can be guaranteed to reemerge on a yearly basis is that of Sergej Milinković-Savić, currently at Lazio and who will eventually leave the Serie A side for someone a bit bigger.
Manchester United have often been touted as a potential landing spot for the complete midfielder should Paul Pogba leave, and with this year likely being the one where that happens, we could see the Serbian head to Old Trafford.
That’s what Corriere dello Sport hint at on Friday, explaining that Mateja Kezman, his agent, ‘will become a key man in the summer’ at Lazio ‘because he will guide the fate of Milinković-Savić’.
The newspaper then add in brackets that Manchester United are ‘always in the front row’ for him, suggesting the interest is still there and they are simply waiting to pounce when the time comes.
We’ll have to wait and see if this summer is finally the one that sees the Red Devils pull off a transfer they seemingly have had in their back pocket for some time now, but, either way, it seems Milinković-Savić appears to be getting restless in Rome and Kezman could facilitate an exit this summer by the sound of things.
