While David De Gea doesn’t sign a new contract with Manchester United, two kinds of rumours will continue.

Firstly, the Spanish goalkeeper will be linked to new clubs and, secondly, the Red Devils will be linked with potential replacements.

The second subject is brought up by AS today. They have a big story about Atletico Madrid’s plan to keep Jan Oblak at the club, with the Rojiblancos taking action to stop a possible departure.

AS writes that Oblak is currently protected by a release clause of €120m, and if considering the current market’s standards, that’s not a lot of money.

So they plan to give him a new deal, postponing the current 2021 expiry date, and raising the release clause to at least €200m.

Although AS claims that Oblak is being followed by ‘all big clubs in Europe’, it’s only Manchester United who are named. He’s said to ‘already’ be an ‘alternative’ for De Gea, and the current clause is considered a ‘bargain’.
