A very nice story can today be found in the Dutch media, where Coventry City fullback Milan van Ewijk sends some big compliments towards Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville.
It’s quite rare to see a player praising a rival like this, and in quotes brought by FC Update, it’s clear how highly he thinks of the attacker.
The original interview was conducted by Voetbal International, who apparently presented a couple of specific questions about Summerville and how hard it is to face him at Leeds.
“That man is really exceptionally good, that’s not normal. He’s the best wing attacker in the Championship. People are finally starting to see how good he is. He is in my top three best left wingers I have come across and he is number one.
“He is showing that he is a Premier League player. He is going to make a step, there is no other way. He has to be able to handle that. But to stand against him, that’s a nice challenge.”
Van Ewijk even ended up admitting that he watched Youtube videos to analyse Summerville and figure out how to stop him.
“Even if I can keep him calm, you know that one moment is enough for him to create so much space and threat right away.”
Playing for Leeds this season, Summerville has 18 goals and nine assists in 43 appearances. His contract with the Whites runs until 2026, and he’s valued by Transfermarkt at €18m.
Recent reports from the German media said the winger could have the chance to join Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen this summer, and it seems that’s only one of the offers he could get to leave Elland Road at the end of the season.
