The City Group is edging closer to the purchase of Bahia, according to reports from Brazil.
Today we get to see two stories that sound very confident about the takeover.
One of them comes from Globo Esporte, who claims president Guilherme Bellintani is now in England to sort the final details with Manchester City’s owners.
It’s said the proposal from the City Group should be delivered to Bahia’s council in 10 days, who will then have 90 days to approve it.
Meanwhile, Jorge Nicola comes up to say there’s already an agreement for the purchase, and the deal, or at least a pre-contract, shall be signed in the coming days.
Now the most interesting information he brings is regarding the plans that the City Group’s have for Bahia.
He first claims that the intention is to make Bahia one of the six biggest clubs in Brazil.
Moreover, the idea is also to have them as the second most important side in the group, just behind Manchester City.
That’s undoubtedly a bold move from the City Group, as those would be two big challenges ahead.
Even though Bahia are a traditional club with a league trophy, there’s a lot of work to be done to make them fight for big things in Brazil.
Now in case they do succeed, that would be a great path for Manchester City to be fed with the biggest talents in South America.
