Already interested by Tanguy Ndombele in the summer, with Manchester City allegedly seeing a €50m bid rejected, Pep Guardiola is now also a huge fan of Houssem Aouar.
Playing against the 20-year-old on Tuesday night in the Champions League, the Spaniard will have had the perfect view of the youngster, as Lyon managed to upset City by drawing 2-2.
According to L’Equipe journalist Bilel Ghazi, Guardiola was so impressed that he went out of his way to congratulate Aouar after the game after ‘greatly appreciating’ his performance, much like José Mourinho did with Justin Kluivert after the 2017 Europa League final.
Not only that, but Mikel Arteta, in the stadium corridors, also pulled the midfielder to one side to have a chat with him and let him know how much he appreciated him.
Ghazi also claims the Manchester City assistant manager jotted down some information about Aouar, which would suggest they might want to be in touch down the line?
The midfielder is currently the team’s joint top scorer in Ligue 1, alongside Memphis Depay, having scored five goals in 14 appearances, picking up one assist along the way.
