Earlier today, we covered a few stories about Manchester City’s chase for the Velez Sarsfield wonderkid Thiago Almada.
It’s been said the Premier League side have already made a first bid for the winger, but the Argentine side are only letting him go in case his release clause is triggered.
Manchester City’s intention would be to sign Almada in a partnership with Sporting, so the player would have a loan spell in Portugal.
That’s why the Lisbon media has been following the case closely, and now Record brings a video on their website telling the reasons why Velez are set to play hard in negotiations.
Argentine journalist Alejandro Panfil reports that there’s a bad relationship between Velez Sarsfield and Manchester City.
The reason for that is that in 2016, Pep Guardiola’s side signed Benjamin Garre, who was 16-years-old at the time, without the Argentine side’s consent.
Velez are currently fighting Manchester City through FIFA, so it’s quite a strange situation to sit and negotiate with the Premier League side now.
That’s why the Premier League champions must trigger the release clause, as they can’t expect a discount in this case.
