Manchester City are working to accelerate the sale of Pedro Porro, according to reports from Portugal.

Newspaper Record today claims that the Premier League side are currently trying to convince Sporting to soon trigger the buying option they have over the player.

The Lions have the fullback on loan until the summer of 2022, and a clause to sign him permanently for €8.5m. Since the clubs have a partnership, the Lisbon side are willing to attend to Manchester City’s request and do their best to help.

Record explains that the Premier League side are trying to reinforce their squad with the likes of Harry Kane and Jack Grealish. To do that, they must make a few sales and reduce their payroll.

The outlet points out that Manchester City have been investigated by Financial Fair Play, and to avoid any further risks, they must raise their income as well.

Sporting are willing to help by signing Porro before August. However, they will only start the payments by July 2022, as already planned. That probably means that the English side only need the guarantee that the fullback will be moving on a permanent deal soon.
