Manchester City are reportedly on the verge of signing Spanish defender Pablo Marí.
The player, who belongs to Gimnàstic de Tarragona, was given permission from his club to negotiate his future in 48 hours, according to the Spanish press.
The reports doesn’t say how much would Manchester City would be prepared to pay for the 22-year-old, but the second division club would get a “good amount of money” with the transfer.
Marí joined Gimnàstic from Mallorca in 2013 and has been playing in the lower divisions of Spanish football since then.
We’re not sure of what City want with a defender from a inferior league, but the newspaper seems quite certain about their claims, mentioning the transfer as a “major surprise”.
