Just over a week ago we covered claims from Spain that Real Betis are set for big summer sales. Spanish newspaper AS explained that, due to Betis’ financial situation, they’re looking to raise money quickly this summer.

This means that players such as Dani Ceballos, Antonio Adan, and Riza Durmisi are on the market.

Therefore, it’s hard, if not impossible, to square that with claims of talks to sign Nolito from Manchester City. Marca explain there’s been claims on Spainsh radio (yes, we’re very much in that season) that Betis have already contacted Manchester City to request a loan.

Marca say it ‘seems complicated because of the economic cost’.

They’re not kidding.

Nolito’s wages have been claimed to be as high as £100k, and even if they were half of that, no, a quarter, Betis wouldn’t find it comfortable.

The only way this works is for Manchester City and Nolito to get together and decide they’ll both make huge financial contributions to help Betis. The player seeing his wages drop, and City paying most of the rest.

Of course, the likelihood of a good loan fee isn’t great either.
